소녀에게 신비한 힘이 생기고 영웅이 되라는 소명을 전달하는 돌연변이가 나타난다. 돌연변이는 미지의 존재로부터 공격받는 지구를 지키라는 소명을 전달하고 소녀는 지구를 지키며 영웅이 되어간다.
“옛날 옛날 황금공을 사랑한 공주가 살고 있었다. 어느날 황금공을 우물에 빠뜨린 공주는 슬프게 울고 있었다. 그 순간 못생긴 개구리가 나타나 본인과 친구가 되어주면 황금공을 건져 올려 줄 것이라 말한다. 친구가 되면 함께 식사를 하고 같은 침대에서 잠을 자야한다는 조건이 있었다. 공주는 못생긴 개구리와 친구가 되고 싶지 않았지만 황금공을 되찾기 위해 친구가 되겠다고 약속했다. 개구리는 황금공을 건져올려 주었고 공주는 그런 개구리와의 약속을 지키지 않은채 성으로 돌아가 버렸다. 개구리는 임금님을 찾아가 그동안의 일을 이야기 했고 임금님은 공주에게 개구리와 친구가 되라고 명령을 내렸다. 여러가지 일들이 있었고 시간이 흘렀다. 사실 그 개구리는 마법에 걸린 왕자님이였고, 마법에서 풀려난 왕자와 공주는 행복하게 살았다.”
이 이야기는 황금공을 우물에 빠뜨린 공주 이야기이다. 영웅의 서사를 다룬 수많은 이야기들에는 소명을 전달하는 전달자가 나타난다. 내가 하고 있는 작업속 소녀들도 처음 소명을 전달해줄 전달자가 필요했다. 이 동화에서 레퍼런스된 이번 작업들은 소녀와 소명전달자가 만나는 이야기이다.
황금공은 우리가 잃어버린 소명이고 그것을 일깨워 주는 것은 우물안에서 황금공을 건져올린 개구리이다. 우리는 우리의 삶 속에서 조력자나 멘토를 만나 삶의 방향성을 결정하기도 한다. 그 조력자는 사람,책,상황,미술작품 등 다양한 얼굴로 다가온다. 작품속 뮤턴트는 소녀에게 조력자이고 지구를 지키라는 소명을 가져다 준다. 우리도 우리의 삶에서 다양한 얼굴로 다가오는 조력자들의 소리에 귀 기울이고 자신만의 영웅이 되길 바란다.
“Once upon a time there lived a princess who liked golden ball. One day, the princess who dropped a golden ball into the well was crying in sorrow. At that moment, an ugly frog appears and offers to rescue a golden ball if they become friends. The condition was that they had to eat together and sleep in the same bed. The princess did not want to befriend the ugly frog, but promised to return the golden ball. The frog got the golden ball back, and the princess did not keep her promise to the frog. And the princess returned to the castle. When the frog went to the king and told him what had happened, the king ordered the princess to befriend the frog. Various things happened and time passed. In fact, the frog was an enchanted prince. The prince and princess, freed from magic, lived happily ever after."
This is the story of a princess who dropped a golden ball into a well. In many stories dealing with the hero’s narrative, a messenger appears. The girls in the work I’m working on also needed a communicator to convey their calling for the first time. The works referenced in this fairy tale are the stories of a girl and a caller meeting.
The golden ball is our lost calling, and it is the frog that retrieved the golden ball from the well to remind us of it. In our lives, we meet helpers or mentors to determine the direction of our lives. The helper comes in various faces such as people, books, situations, and works of art. The mutant in the work is a helper and gives the girl a call to protect the earth. We hope that we too will listen to the voices of helpers coming with various faces in our lives and become our own heroes.
