NARACE
Narace is a sea nymph, yet one who cannot descend into the deep sea.
Through relationships with others, she comes to recognize herself, occupying the point where connection begins.
Narace symbolizes the moment in which incompleteness transforms into relation.

RUBELLIA
Rubellia was born in a land that lures with mirages by day and freezes by night.
She faces the viewer directly, becoming aware of how she is seen through the gaze of others.
Rubellia embodies the tension and density produced by gaze and self-consciousness.

SELVA
Selva was once a mediator who interpreted and conveyed the meaning of prophecy.
She chose silence, refusing to let her words exist for the purposes of others.
Through the awakening of a mysterious sensory perception, she became the forest—and, in losing her way, became a path.

Within Eun Joo Kim’s painting world,
Narace, Rubellia, and Selva embody different modes of relation,
through which connection emerges without hierarchy or resolution.
Narace’s Sea Tree
a series of paintings that captures the form in which relationships take root and continue to grow.
