The figures are arranged within a stable composition, yet a linear element cutting across the surface disrupts that order. The line that connects them is, at once, a bond and a source of tension. Relations with others are never seamless, and their misalignment remains as a subtle discomfort within the frame. In this work, relationships are not resolved into harmony. The tension that arises when beings with different sensibilities and positionscoexist within a single scene emerges as the underlying structure of the painting.

NARACE

Narace is a sea nymph, yet one who cannot descend into the deep sea.
Through relationships with others marked by absence and wounds, she learns how connections are formed.
Her Sea Trees and Sea Constellations mark the moment when incompleteness meets its transformation into relatio

Narace occupies a central position within Eun Joo Kim’s painting world,
where connection arises not from unity, but from difference
